Mid-Fire Glazes (cones 5 and 6)
Glazes designed for firing at mid temperature (cones 5 and 6) should be applied to already bisque fired pottery (cone 06 - 04) and then fired at mid temperature (use our "Ready for Glaze Firing" racks). Refer to information associated with each individual glaze to determine whether the glaze will be food safe and dinnerware safe. Some of these glazes are fluid, so please educate yourself on the properties of each glaze before using. Layering of these glazes is possible, but can be unpredictable. Before layering glazes, it is recommended that you use the specific combination on test tiles and consult with the kiln operator if you have any questions. Glazes which are not properly applied can cause damage to kiln shelves and other pottery when fired. Members are responsible for any damage due to improper glazing.
DO NOT dip your brush in bottles. Pour into cups. Stir well before pouring and before applying each coat to your bisque ware. If the glaze contains crystals, it's important for those to be equally dispersed throughout the glaze before pouring and applying.
